🩺 C.C.M.P. – A Public Health Need, Not a Controversy
A Legally Approved Course Created by the Maharashtra Legislature to Bridge Rural Healthcare Gaps
✅ What is C.C.M.P.?
- The Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (C.C.M.P.) is a legally valid, government-recognized program introduced under a law unanimously passed by the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
- Designed for BHMS graduates (5.5-year Homeopathy course), the C.C.M.P. adds 1 year of hands-on clinical rotation and modern pharmacology training under structured supervision.
🩺 Why is C.C.M.P. Important?
- It empowers qualified homeopathic doctors to provide primary modern medical care in underserved and rural areas — within a legal and ethical framework.
- As per a government-run pilot study conducted by the Pharmacology Department of Yavatmal Government Medical College and published in the National Journal of Scientific Research, the quality of healthcare delivery improved by nearly 100% after C.C.M.P. training.
⚖️ Legal Recognition
- The C.C.M.P. qualification is included at Serial No. 28 of the Second Schedule of the MMC Act 1965.
- As per law, the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) is mandated to register C.C.M.P. qualified practitioners.
- Despite repeated legal challenges by certain groups, including IMA (Indian Medical Association), no court (High Court or Supreme Court) has ever stayed or overturned the legality of the course.
🛑 Eight Years of Delay Due to Unjust Pressure
- For eight years, MMC delayed registration of C.C.M.P. doctors, allegedly due to pressure from IMA – a violation of lawful obligations.
- In a key meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Minister of Medical Education, MMC officials agreed to proceed with registration in accordance with the Law and Justice Department’s opinion.
- Following this, the Medical Education Department issued a formal letter, and MMC is now expected to begin the registration process officially.
⚠️ IMA’s Undemocratic Tactics
- Despite legal clarity, IMA continues to falsely malign the course, threaten strikes, and hold healthcare services hostage — at the cost of public safety.
- Attempts to create healthcare anarchy by politicizing a legally valid qualification are being strongly opposed by the AYUSH medical community.
💪 AYUSH Doctors Stand United
- Homeopathy doctors across the state are committed to supporting the government in ensuring lawful healthcare delivery, especially in rural and under-served regions.
- In protest against IMA’s undemocratic and anti-public stance, the Administrator of Maharashtra Council of Homoeopathy, Dr. Bahubali Shah, will begin a hunger strike at Azad Maidan, Mumbai from July 16.
📢 A Call to Justice
- The Constitution, the Law, and Scientific Data all favor the C.C.M.P. course.
- It’s time to put public health first.
- Let us not allow any association to hold healthcare hostage or deny qualified practitioners their rightful registration and responsibility to serve.
